Camp Fun Girl

The Camp supports the YWCA’s strategic focus to provide healthy choices for youth in order to promote healthy and more confident girls. The aim of the camp is to empower girls through a fun variety of outdoor activities, workshops and peer learning. It provides girls with the opportunity to develop the strength, knowledge and skills they need to address the issues they face as they become teenagers.
Experiencing fun and challenging outdoor activities such as skimboarding and a high ropes course, enables girls to leave with a sense of achievement and greater self-confidence.
The YWCA Health and Fitness Centre facilities are used to enable the girls to participate in a variety of physical activities, including ‘Swim to Survive’, Hip Hop, Team Games and Self-Defense, to show them the importance of having a healthy body and mind and also demonstrating how much fun physical activity can be!
Activities are taken from the Welcome to My Life after-school program to initiate discussion and reflection on topics such as healthy relationships, personal and internet safety, body image and self-esteem.
