Fall into a Job
Fall is here but don’t let the rain keep you away. Come to the Career Zone for help with your resume! We also recently put together a tip sheet for filling out online applications. With the majority of employers asking you to just “apply online” we decided to do some research on how to help you navigate through the system. Ask a career advisor for more information.

According to a recent survey conducted by the YWCA One Stop Shop and Career Zone – over 75% of employers surveyed said they preferred to receive job applications via email or online.
When applying for a job online or via email you’ll usually have to write a cover letter, or an introductory email at the very least. Don’t make the mistake of sending a rushed email/online application full of typos and errors – this was listed as the #1 top pet peeve among our surveyed employers. Instead, take a minute to copy and paste the text into an MS Word document and run it through spell check.
