Connecting the Community Award

In addition to the 10 original nomination categories, the individual nominees are also eligible for the Connecting the Community Award.
The nominees have selected a YWCA program area that they are interested in or passionate about:
- Early learning and child care
- Reducing child poverty
- Safe and affordable housing
- Healthy choices for youth
- Preventing violence against women
From April 19 – May 22 the public can cast their votes for their favourite nominee. Voters can vote once every 24 hours per computer. The voting site will close on Tuesday, May 22 at noon.
The nominee with the most votes receives the Connecting the Community Award and Scotiabank will donate $10,000 to the YWCA program area of her choice. The recipient will be announced at Women of Distinction Awards on May 24.

Congratulations to Saleema Noon, who garnered 8,054 votes! As part of the Connecting the Community Award, Scotiabank donated $10,000 to go towards the YWCA program area of her choice. Saleema chose to allocate the money to YWCA healthy choices for youth .
