Connecting the Community Award

In addition to the 11 original nomination categories, the individual nominees are also eligible for the Connecting the Community Award.

 The nominees have selected a YWCA program area that they are interested in or passionate about:

• Early learning and child care  
• Reducing child poverty
• Safe and affordable housing
• Healthy choices for youth
• Preventing violence against women
  

From April 19 – May 22 the public can cast their votes for their favourite nominee. Voters can vote once every 24 hours per computer. The voting site will close on Tuesday, May 22 at noon.

The nominee with the most votes receives the Connecting the Community Award and Scotiabank will donate $10,000 to the YWCA program area of her choice. The recipient will be announced at Women of Distinction Awards on May 24.

To further maintain the integrity of the Connecting the Community Award, the YWCA reserves the right to delete votes that are considered to be suspicious by our software specialist consultants.

The Connecting the Community Award is a charitable donation to a YWCA service area that greatly needs financial support.  We know that you understand the purpose and spirit of the vote and thank you for your involvement.
