Four Chefs One Garden book sales support YWCA Crabtree Corner
YWCA Metro Vancouver board member Evaleen Jaager Roy raised $10,000 for YWCA Crabtree Corner food programs that feed low-income families in the Downtown Eastside through her published book, Four Chefs One Garden.
Four Chefs One Garden combines inspirational, seasonal local cooking and gardening with sumptuous photography and original recipes from Vancouver culinary icons Tojo, Vikram Vij, Michel Jacob and Umberto Menghi, who donated their time and recipes for the book.
Partial proceeds from the book sales raised $3,000, and $7,000 was raised through two sold-out events: “Springtime in France” at Gardenworks, in which Michel Jacob of Le Crocodile provided a gourmet cooking class, and “Sushi, Sake and Summer” at Edible BC of Granville Island, with chef Tojo providing his state-of-the-art sushi and Japanese cuisine.
