High School Mentorship Celebrates 20 Years

YWCA High School Mentorship 20th anniversaryThe YWCA is happy to announce that 2012 marks 20 successful years of delivering the High School Mentorship Program to high schools throughout the Lower Mainland. Its humble beginnings include one school and six girls; today, the mentorship program is delivered at over 10 schools, serving more than 100 girls each year.

Although the program has been enriched with new components over the years (e.g. Career Café, Mentorship Committee, etc.), its core format remains the same: each mentee is matched with a professional female mentor, within a desired career path.

Nowadays, more than ever, girls need mentors to help navigate through endless career options available to them, and nothing can replace the value of face-to-face connections.

How do we know the program works? Time and time again, we hear stories from our mentees about how the program has impacted their lives and many are returning as mentors with the hopes of giving back by passing on positive experiences.
