Legal Educator

The Legal Educator is a new position at the YWCA and is designed to provide a wide range of legal support and answer questions regarding legal issues. The Legal Educator is not a lawyer and does not offer legal advice, but instead offers education on a wide range of legal topics and provides specific resources, referrals and support with your legal issues.

The Legal Educator provides workshops for YWCA programs on a number of legal topics. The Legal Educator also provides one-to-one support for YWCA clients on a wide range of legal issues.

These issues can include, but are not limited to:
• Family law
• Residential tenancy
• Immigration
• Poverty law

The Legal Educator can also interpret and answer questions on legal documents such as:
• Custody agreements
• Peace bonds
• Affidavits
• Eviction notices
