Special Services and Workshops Just for Single Moms
When you join one of our Single Mothers' Support groups, you can begin to access a variety of special services for members. As a group member you are eligible to receive:
- Monthly Food Vouchers
- YWCA Vancouver Thrift Shop Vouchers
- Single Mothers' Bursaries
- Membership in the YWCA Health + Fitness Centre
- Presents of Peace Christmas Hamper
- Applications for Single Mothers' Housing
- Information and referral to a wide variety of YWCA and other community resources
The Vancouver YWCA Single Mother's Network provides its members with quarterly workshops and annual celebrations. We also offer quarterly workshops and special events for our program members. Topics and occasions are varied, chosen to meet the immediate needs of current network members. To date, our workshops and special events for single mothers have included:
Annual Single Moms’ Picnic - Our traditional summer gathering of Single Mom's and their kids, just for fun!
Where There's a Will - How to write a will, and why single moms should.
Making Money Work - Goal setting and financial planning for any income.
Breaking Through - A creative and fun-filled artistic exploration of current and future life goals.
Personality Dimensions – A workshop that allowed participants to discover their unique personality profiles and learn how preferences could affect job and life choices.
Single Moms' Christmas Craft Fair - Single mompreneurs devised, organized and presented their home-based business products.
Spring Forward – Single moms gathered to learn more about education, employment and self-employment resources and to explore their own personal strengths to "put it all together."
